The Terre Haute Women’s Club Cruise for Shoes Event is coming to the Hulman Center this weekend, offering a unique experience that combines food, drinks, and entertainment from six different countries. The event aims to provide a fun and interactive way for guests to sample food and drinks from around the world, while also supporting a great cause. The money raised from the event will go towards the Terre Haute Women’s Club Shoe Bus Project, a mobile shoe store that provides children in need with shoes. The Shoe Bus Project is a weekly initiative where members of the Terre Haute Women’s Club visit schools and provide children with shoes, measuring their feet and ensuring they have enough room to grow. The club also provides two pairs of socks with each new pair of shoes. The event is not just about the food and drinks; it is also about the opportunity to learn about different cultures and traditions. The Hulman Center will be filled with local restaurants that have prepared dishes from six different countries, including Italy, China, India, Mexico, Japan, and Greece. Some of the dishes that will be available include pasta from Italy, sushi from Japan, tacos from Mexico, samosas from India, dumplings from China, and moussaka from Greece. Guests will also have the opportunity to sample drinks from each country, including wine from Italy, tea from China, and mojitos from Mexico. The event will feature a passport system, where guests will receive a passport and can visit each of the six countries represented, sampling food and drinks from each one. *

It’s just terrible. So, they will stay home sometimes. We’ve had kids where they are sharing a pair of shoes with a sibling. The main goal is to boost their self-esteem and keep them in school daily,” said Wolf. “It just means a lot. It warms my heart… Some of them run off the bus jumping cause some of the shoes light up. So, they love to see that,” said Janel Quillin, who drives the Shoe Bus around four times a year. “It’s wonderful to see the smiles on their faces when they get their new shoes and socks. It’s a moment that I will always treasure,” said Quillin. “We have had kids where they are sharing a pair of shoes with a sibling. “We just want to make a difference in our community and provide these kids with shoes,” said Wolf. “It’s not just about the shoes, it’s about the self-esteem and confidence that comes with wearing new shoes,” said Wolf. “We will keep providing shoes to these kids until we make a difference in our community,” said Wolf.
